Thanks for an amazing 2025 event!

We persevered the weather and came through with a great event. Thank you all — pilots, officials, sponsors, volunteers, balloon fans, entertainers, vendors, and everyone else — for making the 48th annual Great Texas Balloon Race. We’re going to get a little rest and start looking forward to next year!

Model / Radio Controlled Balloons

For the third time this year, the Great Texas Balloon Race will include the flight of “model” hot air balloons. The slightly smaller balloons are still powered by propane but are steered by a remote pilot on the ground and do not have a basket — kind of like a model airplane. These balloons won’t be competing in the Great Texas Balloon Race, but balloon fans can catch them June 13 and 14 during the event.

The balloons will be at different places on the mornings of Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14. Catch them at about 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m, unless otherwise noted. They will also be at the Longview Convention Complex Friday and Saturday evening. Below are the balloons, and here is where you’ll find them:

Friday, June 13:

300 W. Loop 281 in front of Longview Mall

Saturday, June 14:

300 W. Loop 281 in front of Longview Mall
